Letter Love Gives
Buy a board, support an education.
During the summer of 2017, we traveled to India and Nepal to work with children in need. After the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015, the destruction was far reaching and absolutely devastating. Even two years later, as we walked the ancient streets of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, it looked as if the earthquake had happened the day before.
After talking to some of the locals, we soon began to realize that the damage of the earthquake went far beyond the fallen homes and monuments that we had seen. The earthquake destroyed thousands of libraries and schoolhouses. So many, in fact, that many Nepalese children were being asked to leave school due to lack of classroom space and resources. And although the overall literacy in the country has increased in the last five years to 65%, less than 20% of Nepalese children have the opportunity to attend school past eighth grade.
That's why we have decided to partner with several local Nepalese Non-Profit Companies to help restore educational opportunities for the youth of Nepal to create a more sustainable future for the country as a whole. For every letter board that is bought on our site, 5% of the proceeds will go towards the rebuilding of schools and libraries in the rural areas of Nepal. We hope to be able to build 5 libraries and 10 classrooms within the next year. While this goal may seem unattainable, we can do it with your help!
